Q: How is my privacy protected?
A: GenerationsUnite recognizes user privacy as an absolute, uncompromising requirement of the system. All users must register with the site to gain access to its features. Only information necessary for users to benefit from site features is collected. GenerationsUnite does not share personally identifiable information with any other business or person.
Q: Is my information secure?
A: Absolutely. It is protected at several levels. First, access to GenerationsUnite is protected by leading industry firewalls by Cisco. Second, GenerationsUnite is hosted in a SAS 70 type II compliant environment. Third, access to information via GenerationsUnite is limited to only authenticated users via a secure username and password combination. Fourth, all web pages containing user information is protected by a certified SSL certificate . Fifth, sharing of information can only occur if an authorized user grants permission to do so. This is usually controlled by a family care manager or a care provider agency that has been employed by a family care manager.
Q: Does GenerationsUnite sell my information to third parties?
A: GenerationsUnite DOES NOT SELL any personally identifiable information to any third party.
Q: Can a member of the public see the information I post in GenerationsUnite?
A: No. GenerationsUnite is not a public social networking site like many that exist today. GenerationsUnite is a private, confidential, and secure site.
Q: Are care plans and client information shared with others?
A: Only those users of GenerationsUnite who have the authority to share client information may do so and only with other registered users of GenerationsUnite.
Q: How is the data and information within GenerationsUnite controlled?
A: GenerationsUnite utilizes role based security. Only those users granted permission to view and share information may do so.
Q: Who owns GenerationsUnite?
A: GenerationsUnite was developed and is owned by Cornerstone Solutions Group, a well-established St. Louis software engineering firm since 1989. Cornerstone specializes in creating custom business software systems designed specifically to improve critical business processes.

Families

Q: How do I get started?
A: Register with GenerationsUnite. Just click on the “Register now” button on our home page. You will then be able to set up a username and password. You can begin using GenerationsUnite for family communication right away.
Q: I have a family member receiving care from a Care Provider agency, how do I set this member up with GenerationsUnite?
A: Your care provider agency must be a member of GenerationsUnite in order for you to interact with them about your family member. If your agency is not currently a GenerationsUnite user, let them know you would like to use our system. You may also find care provider agencies currently using the system in our Care Provider Directory.
Q: If I am a family member, is there a cost?
A: No. GenerationsUnite is free to families and members of the general public. Just click on the “register now” button to begin. If you have a family member in care at an agency using GenerationsUnite, you will receive an email invitation asking you to register. Once you register, you will be able to see your family member's care plan and schedule, as well as notice boards for communicating with the care provider agency.
Q: Who can see my information and notice boards used by myself and other family members?
A: Only those who you have invited to join the GenerationsUnite community. You send an invitation to your family member, and they receive an email with a request to register. Once they register, they are given a username and password. They then have access to your family area. This is not viewable by those without an invitation or members of the general public.
Q: If I have a relative in need of care, how do I find a care provider?
A: You can search for a care provider by zip code in your area with the GenerationsUnite care provider directory search engine.
Q: If I am working with a care provider agency, how can I add information to my loved one's care plan?
A: You can add information to the family supplemental information area.

Care Provider Agencies

Q: Does GenerationsUnite distribute or sell my information and my clients' information to others?
A: No. GenerationsUnite is committed to the confidentiality of your agency and its client information. We do not sell or distribute information to ANY other parties.
Q: How will GenerationsUnite help my Care Provider agency?
A: GenerationsUnite can help your agency improve client retention by offering up to date communications with your clients' families even if they live in another city. It can also help you recruit employees through our innovative Job Bank. It can help generate new business by providing potential clients with your agencies information through the Care Provider Directory's search engine. It can help your agency differentiate yourself by offering added value to potential clients during your initial evaluation meeting.
Q: Will GenerationsUnite help generate revenue?
A: GenerationsUnite has an ecommerce platform which enables your agency to receive a rebate for every purchase anyone associated with your agency makes. Be sure to encourage employees and clients' families to shop from within the GenerationsUnite secure area and you will receive credit for the sales and they will receive favorable discounts and incentives. You can also earn a referral fee if you refer a service partner who enrolls in the service partner directory.
Q: If I am a new agency to GenerationsUnite what is the cost to use the system?

Q: How do I get my agency listed in the Care Provider Directory?

Q: I notice my agency is only listed in one zip code, how can I add more?
A: We can provide you with a quote based on your location and the size of the territory you wish your agency to be represented in. To add additional zip code listings, contact us at GenerationsUnite Sales or phone (314) 469-9910.
Q: Can I use GenerationsUnite if I am a new agency?
A: Yes. In fact, we strongly encourage you to begin using GenerationsUnite from the first day of your agency. You can present it to new clients as a special tool that helps differentiate your agency from your competitors.
Q: Do I have to have a certain number of clients to begin using GenerationsUnite?
A: No. You can begin with as few as 1 client. GenerationsUnite will support you as your agency grows. With its search engine in the Care Provider Directory, GenerationsUnite can even assist you in obtaining your first client.
Q: Do I have to have a back office system to use GenerationsUnite?
A: No. You can use many of the features without a back office system. However, GenerationsUnite does interface with back office software systems HomeTrak, and Appointmate. If you are using either of those systems, GenerationsUnite automatically syncs with your software to make the most up to date info available for your clients' families, caregivers and office staff.
Q: Where do the caregivers in the Job Bank come from?
A: Caregivers register with the GenerationsUnite Job Bank in response to postings placed with national job listing agencies.
Q: Can other agencies see caregivers already employed by my agency?
A: No. Once a caregiver is employed by an agency using GenerationsUnite, the caregiver information is no longer available to other agencies.
Q: Can families find my agency without being a registered GenerationsUnite user?
A: Yes. If you are listed in our Care Provider Directory, the general public can access this search engine to locate your agency.
Q: Why can't I see many of the features such as the client care plan, Job Bank and ecommerce shopping areas?
A: To view and use many of the features of GenerationsUnite, you must be a registered user with a user name and password. This is why we recommend an online demo of the system to show all of the features available to you.
Q: How can I promote the system to families?
A: We have several informational pieces available on our site. We recommend that you download and print them for distribution among your clients' families. You may like to take them with you when you meet with a new potential client and leave it with your assessment pack.
Q: Can I include case managers, physicians, social workers, etc?
A: Yes. There is a feature that allows you to invite a Third Party (case manager, physician, etc) to register for inclusion in the communications and documentation for a particular client. They will then be provided with a username and password, which will allow them access to the specified client's data. You control the level of access they have to your client's information.
Q: How can I get my caregivers to use the system?
A: There is an informational piece for caregivers available on the site. We recommend you print this and include it with their paycheck or other communication you give them.
Q: If I put notes in the back office system about a client, do they show up in GenerationsUnite?
A: Not necessarily. Some back office software will allow you to select a setting to upload the client notes into GenerationsUnite if you want to. This is a setting you must choose to turn on. Other back office software does not permit the upload of client notes to GenerationsUnite.
Q: Are caregivers allowed to edit the client's care plan?
A: No. Caregivers have read only access to a client's care plan. They cannot edit it.
Q: Can I prevent my caregivers from communicating on the notice boards?
A: Yes. You must select the level of access your caregivers have. You can assign them one of three levels:
  • No access – they cannot see or post to the notice boards
  • Read-only access – they can read the posts but cannot add to them
  • Full access – they can read and post to the notice boards, directly communicating with the client's family
Q: Who can review a client's care plan and schedule?
A: Only those who you give permission to. You invite the Family Care Manager to register. You may also include Third Parties at your discretion.
Q: When the system sends a notice of activity such as the posting of a new message, via email, does that notice contain any confidential information?
A: No. The message does NOT include any details as to what the content of any changes are, messages posted or documents uploaded. The recipient must login to our secure site before you can access this detailed information.

Caregivers

Q: If I am a caregiver, how do I begin using GenerationsUnite?
A: If your care provider agency is a current GenerationsUnite user, you will receive an email inviting you to register on our site. If not, you can register as a family member and begin using the system to communicate with your family.
Q: If I am a caregiver, is there a cost to use GenerationsUnite?
A: No. You can register with GenerationsUnite and set up a profile if you are currently seeking employment. You will then be available to care provider agencies through our Job Bank. If you are already employed by an agency using GenerationsUnite, you will receive an email inviting you to register.
